It's Still Raining in Boston, but the Food is Good

Left Hyannis in the rain and drove into more rain in Boston. It rained so much we almost rented a boat. A boat would have been faster than a car. The only thing worse than rain in Boston is traffic in Boston, what a mess when the two are combined. Kathy, how did you do it for so long?

We did stop in to see if Norm was at his usual spot at Cheers, but we missed him. We wanted our next stop to be another Amy recommendation, the Black Rose but we made a wrong turn and ended up on a freeway that was going nowhere fast. The only problem was, the traffic on the other side was even worse. By the time we saw a break in the traffic we were half way to Bush country at Kennebunkport. Since some of our friends like JER are good Republicians, we decided to stop by to see how the other half lives. Wow! See the pics.

After we left our Bush friends it was off to Red's Eats, a lobster shack, which according to "Road Food" has the best Lobster Roll in Maine. Great book, they have been right every time. Though Tina and Hazel prefer their lobster hot rather than on a cold sandwich which is what you get at Red's. Road Food also listed Baxter's. (Bryant is still stuck on that place.)

Thanks to Jill for giving us a great recommendation for a restaurant in Newburyport, MA. Michael's was great and so was the little town around it. We will go back. Thanks again Jill.

Found a great motel, Bishop's, in Jackman, ME. It's located just before you get to the Canadian border entering Quebec. The hanging plants were awesome. See pics below. We will definitely go back to Bishop's for snowmobiling in the winter which we are told, is their high season. It's not the Marriott, but it's a great family run motel with all the creature comforts you'll need.

Off to Canada, starting with Quebec which we will report by separate posting. (We got a little behind on our postings because of a technical error, but we will catch up in a day or so. Today, July 7th, we are in Toronto. We will post for Quebec, Montreal and Toronto in a few days. We leave for Saulte St. Marie tomorrow.

Hey Road-trippers!!! I love the blog... it's a great way to keep in touch and Dom is going to be so excited now that he can view your pics and write a message. I am going to log him on this week and let him send something, so stay tuned.

I see that you are doing a lot of my two favorite summer activities: eating seafood and drinking beer! Since I can do neither this summer, I totally trust the task of covering that for me to you three and that you will surely share with me all of the joy you are experiencing from it!!! Love you. – Ashley

OK, you guys. I hope those Frenchies up there in Quebec treated you nicely. Did they give you anything to eat up there? Looks like you're having a good time despite the rigors of travelling in the Summer. So have a good time and keep in touch, blogger people. There has to be a hot spot in Yellowstone so be sure to e me and let me know your itinerary.
