Rain Rain Go Away,
It sure does rain a lot in New England. We had planned to take one of the expensive ferries to Martha’s Vineyard, three figures for the 3 of us and more than that if we took the car, but pouring rain kept us on shore. We spent the day on Cape Cod and looking at the sights in Provincetown, which is located at the tip of Cape Code--very interesting. In any event, the scenery and ocean were beautiful.
The next day, what a surprise, there was a little sun so we took the ferry, no car, to Nantucket for the day. Nice place but really expensive, with beautiful houses and tons of money. We spent our time sightseeing (too cold for the beach) and doing our favorite thing, eating. No pics from the restaurant but if you ever make it to Nantucket, be sure to go to Provisions; it makes great sandwiches, with outstanding bread.
We spent two nights in Hyannis but managed to eat three times at a great place named Baxter’s Fish and Chips. WOW!!!!!. Outstanding clam chowder, seafood bisque, grilled sword fish and fried haddock. The scenery was also great and the beer was cold. Yes, it did rain a little and it was a little cold but they served some of the best seafood I ever had. We must make a return trip. Tina and Hazel broke the rules and fed the seagulls. Man those birds are aggressive! Thank you, Amy, for the restaurant referrals and the directions when Sally failed us.
We also found the Kennedy compound, not much to see (hidden by a tall fence), and discovered a fabulous ice cream parlor called the Four Seas. It alone was worth the trip, particularly if it follows a meal at Baxter’s. Yeah, there is a little Baxter bias. Bryant would have stayed in Hyannis for the entire six weeks just to eat there every day. But Tina and Hazel pushed him to move on. Pics below.
It’s on to Boston and Maine after this.

Hey Road-trippers!!! I love the blog... it's a great way to keep in touch and Dom is going to be so excited now that he can view your pics and write a message. I am going to log him on this week and let him send something, so stay tuned.

I see that you are doing a lot of my two favorite summer activities: eating seafood and drinking beer! Since I can do neither this summer, I totally trust the task of covering that for me to you three and that you will surely share with me all of the joy you are experiencing from it!!! Love you. – Ashley
